Whats the gas inside a ping pong ball?

I know this may sound stupid but i cut a ping pong ball in half to do the Ganzfield experiment and when i cut it in half it had a weird smell. Reminded me of that stuff people inhale to get high. It really scared me and now I'm scared i just inhaled something i shouldn't have. If you could tell me whats inside it that would be great. Thanks
