Why are customers allowed to think that they are right about everything?

It is usually easier for the company to give in to a cranky, ignorant customer than deal with the fallout if they don't. It's also my experience that for every one idiot customer there is one idiot employee that did something just as stupid to piss off a customer and harm the employer. The whole world is filled with morons.
