If I accidentally give the IRS the wrong account # for direct deposit will they just mail it to me or...?

possibly deposit it in someone else's account? Their website says they sent the deposit on 4/29 and my bank hasn't posted it and I called them and they haven't received it for processing either. My accountant got the confirmation email that it was approved and said if the account number is wrong (typed in incorrectly) they should mail it to me. Is this correct or is it a possibility it could've been accidentally deposited into the wring account?
